Description

The Green and Blue Deal Programme – Comoros Ulanga ne Maesha is a flagship initiative of cooperation between the European Union and the Comoros. It aims to reconcile the preservation of the archipelago's exceptional natural capital with the economic development of local populations. The intervention strategy is based on the "Green and Blue Deal" concept, which addresses the integrated management of terrestrial landscapes (green) and marine/coastal resources (blue) to ensure resilience to climate change.

Objectives

Island ecosystem conservation: Strengthen the sustainable and inclusive management of ecosystems, integrating the socio-economic needs of local communities through support for the National Marine Park (PNM) and biodiversity restoration. Sustainable food systems: Develop climate-resilient blue/green production through agroecology, sustainable fishing, and healthy marketing to diversify the national diet. Inclusive territorial governance: Strengthen institutional dynamics that integrate environmental issues through the operationalization of Territorial Action Systems (TAS) and collaborative planning. Global climate resilience: Support vulnerable watersheds and rural infrastructure to reconcile biodiversity and sustainable socio-economic development.
