Description

The project to support the empowerment and financial inclusion of women and youth in the cashew, fruit, and vegetable sectors (PAIFJ) is designed to strengthen the economic empowerment of women and youth in Guinea-Bissau. To achieve this, it implements a set of targeted actions across the cashew, fruit, and vegetable value chains. The program also aims to professionalize cooperatives and micro and small enterprises (MSEs). Its intervention strategy is based on three pillars: removing barriers to entrepreneurship, facilitating access to inclusive financing, and integrating social services, in order to fully unleash the productive potential of women.

Objectives

👥 Economic empowerment of women and youth:
Support cooperatives and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the processing and marketing of cashew nuts, tomatoes, and tubers to increase incomes.

💰 Enhanced financial inclusion:
Create a subsidized line of credit through microfinance institutions (MFIs) to facilitate access to financing for women entrepreneurs.

🌾 Agribusiness development:
Establish production units within cooperatives and MSMEs to add value to local products and facilitate their access to high-value markets.

✨ Climate and social resilience:
Integrate early childhood services, training, and gender awareness sessions to improve quality of life and productivity.
