Description

The PAGDC-PTA is a project to support the Agricultural Transformation Program (ATP). In the DRC, this initiative is designed to improve governance in the agricultural sector and develop skills through vocational training and capacity building necessary for transforming value chains. It combines interventions aimed at making the agricultural investment climate more attractive, structuring value chains (cooperatives, farmers' organizations), and developing a national agricultural training and employment system for young people and women. The intervention strategy combines: (i) measures to improve the institutional framework and the business climate; (ii) development of training programs and centers of excellence for agro-entrepreneurial employment; and (iii) support for structuring local actors to facilitate access to inputs, markets, and financing.

Objectives

Improvement of the investment climate : strengthening institutional and regulatory frameworks to attract and secure private investment in agricultural value chains. Skills development : develop and professionalize training and employability schemes for young people and women, with qualified trainers and suitable training centres. Structuring of supply chains : supporting the creation and structuring of producer organizations and cooperatives in order to improve access to inputs, equipment and markets. Increased productivity and integration : facilitating access to productive tools, know-how and financing mechanisms to increase rural productivity and employment.
