Description
The Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (PRODER) aims to contribute to poverty reduction, improved food security and nutrition, and enhanced climate resilience among rural communities in Burundi. Its intervention strategy is based on promoting inclusive rural entrepreneurship—particularly for youth and women—by developing viable agro-pastoral enterprises, improving market access, adding value to value chains, and fostering a more favorable economic and institutional environment. PRODER builds upon IFAD’s "programme approach" in Burundi by ensuring continuity with other rural projects, while placing explicit emphasis on job creation and consolidation, agricultural product processing, and the expansion of economic opportunities for rural youth.
