Description

The Regional Program for the Integration of Agricultural Markets (PRIMA) aims to boost agricultural trade at the regional level. To achieve this, it focuses on improving the performance of cross-border trading hubs and transport corridors linking Benin and Togo. PRIMA is also committed to promoting rural entrepreneurship, particularly among women and youth, and integrating smallholder farmers into sub-regional markets, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural transformation. The program's intervention strategy rests on three pillars: better integrated and more efficient markets, resilient infrastructure, and strengthened policy dialogue. This approach aligns with the objectives of the AfCFTA, Agenda 2063, and the strategies of ECOWAS and NEPAD.

Objectives

🌍 Boosting Regional Agricultural Trade:
Increase agricultural trade between countries, particularly between Benin and Togo, to revitalize sub-regional markets.

💼 Creating Jobs for Youth and Women:
Generate inclusive economic opportunities in rural areas, with a particular focus on youth and women's entrepreneurship.

📈 Increasing Incomes and Improving Food Security:
Sustainably improve the living conditions of rural populations by increasing agricultural incomes and food and nutritional security.

🌾 Sustainable Transformation of Family Farming:
Support the modernization of family farming by strengthening its integration into markets, improving trade infrastructure, and promoting climate-resilient practices.
