Description

The Integrated Livestock Value Chain Development Project in Burkina Faso (PDCVIE-BF) aims to transform livestock production into economic value by integrating the various links in the meat value chain. It simultaneously addresses livestock productivity, genetics, animal feed and health, the professionalization of operators, processing infrastructure, sanitary quality, access to finance, and market access. The approach is based on establishing a value chain ecosystem linking livestock farmers, professional organizations, SMEs, processors, distributors, public institutions, research institutions, and the financial sector. A key infrastructure project is planned in Bobo-Dioulasso, including a modern meat production and processing platform.

Objectives

🐄 Increase animal productivity:
Sustainably improve the productivity and production of cattle, small ruminants, pigs, and poultry through genetics, nutrition, and animal health.

🌱 Strengthen climate resilience:
Reduce the vulnerability of agro-pastoralists and agro-pastoral systems to the effects of climate change.

🥩 Develop processing to standards:
Increase the processing of animal products and improve their sanitary quality to strengthen their competitiveness.

💼 Create value and jobs:
Professionalize stakeholders, facilitate their access to markets and financing, and promote entrepreneurship within livestock value chains.
