Description

The Ecological and Productive Transitions in Casamance project aims to strengthen the economic and climate resilience of the region's rural areas by supporting the transition of agricultural systems towards more sustainable models. Its intervention is based on an integrated approach combining social microfinance, entrepreneurial support, and the dissemination of agroecological practices. The project places particular emphasis on small-scale women farmers, who benefit from improved access to credit, technical training, and support to develop environmentally friendly income-generating activities. This intervention strategy combines financial and non-financial services, with the objective of simultaneously improving rural household incomes, food security, and the protection of natural resources.

Objectives

🌾 Agroecological Transition:
Supporting 2,000 women producers through training, farm visits, and field schools to help them adopt sustainable practices.

💰 Productive Development:
Providing tailored loans and in-kind contributions (including resistant seeds and solar-powered water pumps) to boost Income-Generating Activities (IGAs) and increase incomes.

🤝 Community Mobilization:
Organizing climate and environmental events to mobilize and engage both beneficiaries and FANSOTO staff.

️ Institutional Strengthening:
Recruiting and training four agricultural advisors. Developing green credit products and a biodiversity conservation strategy.
