Description

The Women's Economic Empowerment through Cashew Nut Processing Program (WEECAP) aims to transform the cashew sector in West Africa. This transformation is based on two strategic pillars: aligning inclusion (by prioritizing young women) and competitiveness. The ambition is threefold: to capture global demand, attract investment, and create decent jobs. The program's intervention strategy is structured around five interdependent pillars, designed to foster inclusive growth through local processing and the integration of women into high-value-added roles.

Objectives

📈 Massive creation of decent jobs:
Create 330,000 decent jobs in the cashew sector, prioritizing young women (70%), through dynamic and inclusive value chains and businesses.

💰 Financing and Investment for SMEs:
Mobilize USD 150 million in investments through innovative financial solutions, catalytic funds, and private partnerships tailored to the business cycles of SMEs and processors.

🔄 Competitiveness and added value:
Improve the competitiveness of local processors (capacity, quality, responsiveness to demand) to better capture West African added value.

⚖️ Social inclusion:
Promote gender and youth equity by integrating gender, youth, and safeguarding to improve performance through capacity building and inclusive policies across the entire value chain.
